Social and Behavioral Interventions
- My research interests focus on HIV prevention and behavioral interventions in low- and middle-income countries. Specifically, I am interested in new approaches to HIV prevention that work in collaboration with people living with HIV to address holistic care and prevention needs through "positive prevention" interventions and serosorting - when HIV-infected individuals seek other HIV-infected individuals for intimate relationships. Serosorting has been examined primarily among MSM in high-income countries, but there has been little examination of this issue in other settings. I also work on issues of coping with HIV and integration of HIV with other sexual and reproductive health services.
-
Methodologically, I focus on qualitative research. I also have extensive experience with systematic reviews and meta-analysis to evaluate the efficacy of interventions and to inform guideline development by organizations such as the World Health Organization.
-
Other interests include research ethics and community participation in research, including community-based participatory research (CBPR).
