Research and Professional Experience
  • 1. Clinical trials in chronic obstructive lung diseases. These include long-term studies of inhaled corticosteroids in mild to moderate COPD (lung Health Study II), effect of anti-inflammatory agents on lung growth in mild to moderate asthmatic children (CAMP), safety and effectiveness of lung volume reduction surgery for emphysema (LVRS Trial), and studies of treatment of pregnant asthmatic women.
  • 2. Scleroderma and the lung. Studies of the clinical epidemiology, pathobiology, and treatment of interstitial lung disease in patients with Scleroderma.

Prevalence of asthma and underlying risk factors in two Peruvian cities
